Shelter Botswana’s preschool is a source of refuge, hope and nourishment for vulnerable children between the ages of 2 and 6 in Maun. This includes orphans, children with HIV and children from households experiencing extreme poverty.
We are helping the Tsutsubega community, who live on the southern edge of the Okavango just north of Maun, to form a community conservancy so they can benefit from the wildlife on their land. Your safaris are directly contributing to this work.
Botswana Predator Conservation
Since 1989 we have been supporters of the Botswana Wild Dog Research project which has now become the Botswana Predator Conservation Programme managed by Wild Entrust. The programme encompasses research on all carnivores, as well as conservation education and other human-wildlife conflict mitigation schemes.
Kgalagadi Meerkat Project
The Zutswa community are our hosts in the Kgalagadi. We partnered with them to create a special wildlife encounter for our guests which brought much-needed employment benefits to this marginalised community.
