Botswana Shelter Botswana

Shelter Botswana preschool is a source of refuge, nourishment and hope for vulnerable children in Maun, Botswana.

The preschool caters for children between two and six years old referred to the Shelter by social workers. These children include orphans, children with HIV and children from households experiencing extreme poverty where their parents or caregivers are unable to supply their most basic needs.

The Shelter provides the children with three meals a day and a preschool education by qualified teachers. The curriculum used complies with the Ministry of Education’s Botswana Early Childhood Care and Education Policy.

Under the Ministry’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) policy, the financial responsibility for ECCE is placed on parents and caregivers. The children who come to Shelter Botswana do not have parents or caregivers who can supply this support.

The Shelter also allows the children access to social and medical care, something that is not possible for children like these who do not have a permanent address.

Shelter Botswana is partnered with Bana Ba Letsatsi, which provides support and education for children when they reach school-going age.

So with the generous support of guests, we continue to invest in this community by supporting Shelter Botswana so that they can provide these essential services to the children at the Shelter.

Thank you so much to all those who have donated to the Shelter. Your support has given these children refuge, nourishment and hope.
