Before the savannah, came the jungle, still home to our closest relatives – the gorilla and chimpanzee. Sharing this leafy and magical world brings all our Tarzan fantasies to life! Of all the myriad experiences that being on safari in Africa offers, being on foot and in the presence of these great apes is perhaps one of the most profound. Nothing can prepare you for the sheer gentle magnificence of a silverback, or the eerily human intelligence of a chimp. This is something that, quite simply, you have to experience.

The jungles of Africa are vast and varied and offer the perfect counterpoint to a more traditional savannah safari. The fecundity of life in a forest is a naturalist’s dream, from the beauty in minutia to the forest elephants of Sangha Bai and Odzala and the lemurs of Madagascar. Exotic species from childhood books abound and bring romance and exploration to life. Until you have experienced this ancient and mysterious world, you have missed seeing one of Africa’s most beautiful faces.
