Future Teacher Alfonzo

With his blessing, we are proud to share the story of Alfonzo, one of our education sponsorship students who is soon to receive his teaching diploma.

Alfonzo was born in the small trading centre of Sereolipi in Samburu East Sub-County and raised in a humble household by a single mother. His family depends on a small amount of livestock for their living. He is one of five children and the only one in his family to receive formal education.

After primary school, Alfonzo managed to get into Kaaga Boys High School in Meru County, and he applied to us for help to continue his education there. With help through our Education Sponsorships Program, he graduated with his Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education. “My studies in secondary school became successful because of your support, and I am grateful for that,” he said, “If not for your generous support, I could not have achieved all that I have.

Alfonzo dreamed of being a teacher, and today, thanks once again to generous support from our foundation family, he is studying for a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education at St. Lawrence Egoji Teachers College in Nkubu. He is in his third and final year, and we very much look forward to him becoming a teacher.

When he applied for tertiary sponsorship, he said: “I want to do this course because I believe that as a teacher I can contribute to my community and country in meaningful ways.” and we have no doubt that he will succeed in this as a teacher.

Beyond academics, Alfonzo has a deep love for football. He enjoys playing in his free time and hopes to help coach students and use it as another way to inspire and guide the next generation.

Alfonzo stands ready to be an educator and a changemaker in Samburu and beyond, and we are so excited for this and grateful to those of you who have stood with him and students like him.

If you would like to support students like Alfonzo, you can do so through our Education Sponsorships Program.
