Shelter Botswana New Bathrooms To increase capacity

Thanks to the help of some of our wonderful Royal African Foundation supporters, we have recently built three new bathrooms at the Shelter so that it can increase its capacity to 50 students. Although Shelter Botswana had the teacher and classroom capacity for 50 children, it only had enough bathrooms for 30, so these new ones will now allow them to take on up to 20 more students as soon as government approval comes through.

As the Shelter’s funding sources from local organisations continue to be heavily impacted by the pandemic, the plan is currently to take on 20 students who can pay subsidised fees. This will give the Shelter a small but much-needed income stream to help cover some of their monthly overheads so that they can continue to provide preschool education, food, and social and medical care to those who need it. Also, as the fees will be heavily subsidised, they will still be helping those who would not be able to afford other preschools in Maun.
