Kenya - Sand River Region
2025 Soccer Tournament
We’re thrilled to report that the Sand River December 2025 tournament was a tremendous success. Teams from the Osero, Olderkesi, and Naimina Enkiyio Soccer leagues came together from all over the region to celebrate sport, community spirit, and shared stewardship of the Sand River area for people and wildlife.
It was truly wonderful to see how much this tournament meant to the players, as you can see from the goal celebrations below.
The tournament was ultimately won by Napoli FC from the Naimina Enkiyio League, a moment that was celebrated with immense pride and joy. In second place was Kitilikini, also from Naimina League, and in third was Border Boys from the Olderkesi Soccer League.
The event ran smoothly from start to finish. Transportation, meals, and equipment were coordinated by all three leagues, while a comprehensive first aid operation stood ready. Trained first aiders worked alongside each league’s rebuilt Land Rover (products of our Sand River Mechanic School program) which were positioned pitchside to respond to injuries. While most incidents were minor bumps and bruises, two serious collisions resulted in a broken leg and a dislocated shoulder. Both injured players were successfully transported to Narok for treatment, and their recoveries are going well.
Beyond the competition itself, the tournament created meaningful economic opportunities for the community. Local mamas set up stands throughout the day, selling chapatis and refreshments to players and spectators alike, generating income for their families while contributing to the vibrant, festive atmosphere.
The tournament succeeded in its broader mission: strengthening relationships across the Sand River region while demonstrating how sport can unite communities around conservation and mutual support.
A big thank you to the members of our foundation family who supported this tournament and helped bring this gathering to life. We are so grateful to have you as part of our community.
