What is your role at Royal African Safaris?

I am a reservations assistant working hand in hand with my colleague Janet.  We make bookings, arrange charter flights and transfers and any other logistics required by the Royal African Partners as they travel with their guests throughout East Africa and Rwanda.

How did you come to work for Royal African Safaris?

I was referred by a friend in 2021 for an accounting position. I was not hired, but my resume was kept on file for future job openings. When Janet started looking for a reservations assistant she contacted me and the rest is history!

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Well, in all honesty I enjoy almost everything about my job. Guests enjoying their trip and leaving satisfied and happy gives me a lot of joy. My job is also enjoyable because everybody has their part to play in ensuring that the safaris are successful and with such teamwork, I am motivated to give my best. More so, I have support and guidance from Janet who is always ready to guide me when need be. Other colleagues at the office are also very supportive and friendly.  RAS has a great work environment that allows you to take ownership of your work without too much pressure.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am the 5th born in a family of 7 children. I originally come from Busia County in the Western Province of Kenya, but most of my upbringing has been in Nairobi. I have two teenage sons, Damien and Shawn, but I am a mother to many others. I hold an MBA in finance from the African Nazarene University and, until now, most of my career has been as a banker.

What are your hobbies or interests?

Well, I wouldn’t call them hobbies per se but I love singing, dancing, listening to good music and reading inspirational material. What eats up my spare time when I am not at work is church, volunteer and charitable activities and spending time with family and friends.

What’s your favorite animal and why?

I love the gazelle as it’s an animal that is graceful, swift, intuitive and intelligent. It also minds its own business.

Is there a safari destination you would like to visit and why?

Definitely. I would love to visit Serengeti National Park during the great migration.
