Zambia
Nakatindi School
The Nakatindi village is on the border of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia, and, as such, human-wildlife conflict is a part of these people’s daily life, including in their children’s walk to school.
We wanted to make sure this community benefitted from their continued co-existence with wildlife which sustains tourism to the area. So we listened to them, and, partnered with other organisations, we were able to carry out this project which involved: paying the bus drivers’ salary and fuel expenses so that children could travel to school safely; creating an industrial arts centre at the school; paying for three teacher’s salaries; funding the school feeding scheme and helping to create the school vegetable garden. All of this work vastly improved the quality of the educational experience the school offers its students. Moreover, the vegetable garden, which has since been expanded, now sustainably generates income and food for the school.
Thank you very much to everyone involved with this project. You have made such a difference to this community!
